Did you know that CamelBak sells more than just water bottles and hydration packs that keep you active? The new Horizon Drinkware Collection, with a color palette that is inspired by the sunsets at Joshua Tree National Park is a collection of drinkware that will take you from The Thrill of running, biking, hiking to The Chill, sunset dinners, early morning coffee & just relaxing with family & friends.
There are a variety of products including a camp mug, tumblers of various sizes, wine tumblers & even a wine bottle. They come in a variety of colors like White, Black, Moss, Terracotta Rose & Larkspur, a very pretty blue.
All the products are made of insulated stainless steel and are BPA, BPS & BPF free. They are spill resistant and have a non-slip silicone base. The heavy duty power coat is scratch resistant and the reason why these products are all dishwasher safe, both the vessel & the lid! That’s not easy to find in an insulated product.
I received the following products to review & test out. The Horizon 12 oz Camp Mug, the 10 oz Rocks Tumbler & the 20 oz Tumbler.
Originally I thought the Camp Mug would be my favorite because it’s got a handle & is the most like a coffee mug, so perfect for a coffee/tea break, but I found that I love the 20 oz Tumbler.
The 20 oz stainless steel insulated tumbler is the perfect size to hold most drinks, both hot & cold. It keeps drinks hot for up to 7 hours & cold for 14 hours. I tested it out and I can for sure tell you that I had coffee in the tumbler for over 2 hours and it was hot the entire time. On the cold side, I put cold water from the fridge into the tumbler before we went on a run/hike several times and it was still cold when we finished our run/hike. In fact the left over water was still cold the next morning when I took a sip.
The Rock Tumbler is half the size of the bigger tumbler and stays hot for 3 hours & cold for 5. They advertise it to be used to keep cocktails or mocktails cool, since we don’t drink, we just used it for juice/water. The 12 oz Camp Mug keeps hot for 4 hours & cold for 6. All of these numbers are with the plastic lid on, which is amazing to me because most of the insulated products I’ve used in the past have had caps that you twist on.
I took the tumblers & mug on a hike with me, I tied the camp mug to my pack for easy access and put the tumblers in the back gear storage pocket. They both fit into my CamelBak Circuit vest, which isn’t that big & it didn’t bother me to carry around. I had water in the large tumbler and I didn’t notice any spillage even when I ran for a few minutes.
Another nice thing about the Horizon Drinkware collection is that the Camp Mug & Tumblers stay cool to the touch & don’t sweat. I had both hot coffee & hot tea in my Tumbler and I didn’t feel any heat from hot liquid inside.
My only comment for improvement would be that the mouthpiece on the lid is a bit awkward, I spilled water on myself a few times so I started using the reusable straws to drink from or just took off the lid while drinking.
Perfect for those post run/hike/ride meals, while camping or even just hanging out in the backyard, the Horizon Drinkware collection is a perfect fit for both hot days when you know you are going to need a cold drink or those early mornings/late nights when you need a little warmth.
