I’ve been using Hungryroot since March 2020. Hungryroot is a personalized grocery service that makes it easy to eat healthy. You tell us a little bit about yourself, then each week we’ll deliver fresh groceries—along with recipes to put your food to use—straight to your door.
When I started using the service I put in that I was vegan and they gave me a list of meals/foods that I could choose from. We initially used the recipes they had and then eventually that morphed into me picking specific groceries so I could make my own meals.
Over the last almost 2 years, Hungryroot has expanded their vegan section to include a lot of new products, which is one of the reasons that I love them! Not only do I feel like I’m eating healthy, we can try new to us products.
Hungryroot is a subscription service, however you can skip weeks, pause or cancel at anytime. I was purchasing weekly in 2020, but in 2021 I typically order once a month or so depending on what we are doing.
They deliver to most zip codes in the 48 contiguous states and Washington D.C. They currently don’t deliver to Alaska or Hawaii.
If no delivery days are available for your zip code at signup, unfortunately, that means they are unable to provide the service to your area at this time.
My deliveries come via a company like OnTrac here in Southern California. They are scheduled to arrive on Mondays, every so often, the delivery is delayed and arrives on Tuesday but I’ve only had that happened 1 time. They are packed with a big ice pack and a special recyclable insulation packaging.
While I choose to have a vegan menu, they do also have all types of menus to include dairy & meat. You can pick the size plan that fits your needs, from the smallest which is 3 2-serving meals to adding breakfast, lunches, dinners, snacks and sweets.
You can edit the suggested meals that they select for you every week or choose to purchase specific groceries. I do this because a lot of times, I know that I want to get certain things.
