This is the last post in my 2021 NYC Marathon series.
How We Got To Run
The Expo
The Start
The Race
Now on to the Gear! Back in the day when I first started running, I would get a new outfit/kit for every race. Well as we started running more races, that strategy became unsustainable since we were running upwards of 30 races a year. While I do have a lot of run clothes, I don’t buy for a specific race very often these days.
However for NYC this year, I wanted to have a special kit to celebrate my first marathon in almost 2 years! So when my friends at Terez, a NYC based company, reached out to me, as a member of their Joy Team to see if they could dress me for the marathon I was super excited!
And let me tell you my kit is/was sooooo cute! It was too cold for me to wear just the sports bra & leggings so I wore a shirt but it was still super cute!
And I’ve talked about this on my IG but Terez sports bras are my absolute favorite, I literally have a drawer full of them now – they are seriously super comfortable.

I wore one of my rabbit EZ Tees for my top. EZ tees are one of rabbit’s essentials, they are seriously the softest & most comfy shirts around. I had one in amethyst orchid that was a perfect color match.
For socks, I got some cute NYC socks from Feetures and they were perfect, nice and cushy but no major compression which was good. I don’t love compression around my arch and a lot of socks have a band that wraps around the arch and for me that is very uncomfortable. These were perfect & I didn’t have any issuess.
For shoes, I got the super cute New Balance NYC RC Elite 2 shoe, and while I did wear the RC Elite 2 I decided to go with my original pair in purple because they matched my outfit LOL. These are my current go-to shoes, they are super comfortable, bouncy, and feel good on my feet. I have 3 pairs now.
NYRR announced that we were allowed to wear a waist pack but not a backpack style vest so my friends at CamelBak sent me an Ultra Belt to test out and wear for the race. I’ll be reviewing this in a separate post in a few weeks but for now, just know, it was a perfect fit for the race.
I wore my trusty and favorite pink rabbit hat that is so worn that I’m missing the last two rungs on the fastener.
I finally got one of the iconic Dunkin hats this year and I literally wore it under my rabbit hat for the entire race! For some reason I guess I was in the wrong corrals but I could never find them and I have always wanted one!
One thing I almost forgot to mention was that I wore my Superfeet Adapt Run insoles. This was the first time I wore them in my RC Elites and it made all the difference. No sliding of the insole like I had at Long Beach and my feet while sore after the race, were in really good condition. I wrote a review of the Adapt Run insoles that you can read here.
I also wore the New York goodr sunglasses, my Garmin Enduro and a Trail Sisters half Buff. And I had 2 Spring Energy Awesome Sauce gels & 1 Muir Strawberry gel too.
I tested out my kit a few days before the race on a run and it felt great – and I had no issues at all on race day either! I would fully recommend every piece that I wore.
What are your race day go-tos?
